Intentionality

"blessed by the LORD, . . . who had led me by the right way"
Gen. 24:48


This verse is taken from the story of Abraham's servant seeking a wife for Isaac. The details that God directed in order for Abraham's servant to find exactly who the Lord had for Isaac are incredible. Nothing escapes His notice and nothing is beyond His reach. Just as He worked on behalf of Isaac, my God works on my behalf. He leads and directs, if only to the next baby step on the path. 

"in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them." Ps. 139:16b

"I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For I know that plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you, declares the LORD."  Jer. 29:10-13

He is intentional in His working in my life. Even though I can't see everything He's doing, all the behind-the-scenes details He's orchestrating, that doesn't mean He's not doing anything. He has been giving me glimpses of His working. He's been slowly shutting doors and keeping others open. God could give me all the answers to my questions right now, but He doesn't want to do that. I wouldn't have a need for Him. I wouldn't learn to trust Him, but would lean on my own understanding. He wants a relationship with me. By withholding all the answers He's teaching me that dependence and trust. 

"I'll never leave you nor forsake you." Heb. 13:5

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will keep you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Is. 41:10

     A bide, remain, make yourself at home with God. These concepts have seemed so vague, so nebulous, so far out of reach or the realm of possibility that I, like so many, have passed over them, in despair that they will never be my reality. Waiting

     T hat moment when God pulls back the curtain of uncertainty and shows you truth. . . . .when God answers questions that have long run the track of your mind, questions that have caused heart angst and heaviness. . . . that moment when God shows you just the next step, after waiting long for it  . . . . that moment happened tonight. He pointed me in the direction I should go and told me to walk therein. He put some puzzle pieces in place and gave me peace about them, peace that is possible in the face of an uncertain tomorrow. He closed my heart to certain possibilities, showed me ones I still need to surrender to Him, and opened my heart to others - to waiting..      I think that waiting is the biggest puzzle piece He showed me tonight. It doesn't make sense that waiting can be something so definite and concrete, but it is. Pieces of Home

    The Lord has me in the middle of moving yet again in this beautiful state of Colorado.  I have now moved as many times since coming to Colorado as I have over the course of my life before - 7 times before and 7 times since moving here = 14 times. (My sister calls me the Colorado nomad. I have to smile.)      I’m not sure why the Lord hasn’t allowed me to get too comfortable here. It is very unsettling to not have a place to plant your feet and say, “This is home.” I’ve learned to think, “This is home for now,” and just roll with it. (For some reason,  this last move has been so much harder on me than any of the previous moves and I can’t pinpoint exactly why.  I have struggled more with discouragement and a sense of not knowing where I belong, feeling lost and alone.)       In the middle of all of the moving, packing and unpacking, relocating and re-orienting, I realize that there a certain little things that help provide a sense of home and normalcy for me in the differen
